The Vermont Suicide Prevention Coalition consists of over 70 representatives from public health, education, state agencies, suicide prevention advocacy groups, youth leadership, mental health services and survivors throughout the state.
Our mission is to create communities of hope throughout Vermont in which schools, agencies and people of all ages are given the knowledge, attitudes, skills and resources to respond effectively to suicidal behavior. Our message is Umatter®.
When a suicide occurs it affects an entire community. The Vermont Suicide Prevention Center believes that educating the professionals that work within our communities is an important aspect of suicide prevention efforts. Involving professional groups in suicide prevention efforts will create prevention-prepared communities, ready to prevent suicide and/or respond effectively should such a tragedy happen, providing timely support and resources to avert further suicides in that community.
