About this training:

An Introduction to LGBTQ Suicide Prevention:

Suicide can be prevented. This presentation will cover what we know about this leading cause of death, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what we can all do to fight suicide. Participants will learn the common risk factors for suicide in LGBTQ populations, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep ourselves, our loved ones and those in our community safe.

About the trainers:

Heather White (she/her)

Heather White is the Area Director for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. After nearly losing her life to post-partum depression and suicide, Heather dedicated her personal and professional life to mental health advocacy and suicide prevention efforts. She is a member of the Vermont Suicide Prevention Coalition for, Chair of the VTSPC Advocacy Committee, and has served on various statewide teams in both Massachusetts and Vermont including the 988 Implementation Task Force and the Vermont Strategic Plan Steering Committee. In addition to her work with AFSP, she is an ASIST trained suicide intervention caregiver, and suicide prevention trainer.

Michelle Peters (she/her)

Michelle Peters is an Area Director for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
